Lukashenko: IT sector should cater for economic needs

According to BelTA Belarus remains committed to its goal to turn into an IT country.

The most important thing now is to maintain momentum and to stay in sync with current economic needs, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his Annual State of the Nation Address on 19 April, BelTA has learned. According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the Hi-Tech Park (HTP) shapes Belarus' image on the international arena. “The most important thing now is to maintain momentum and to stay in touch with current economic needs. The capacities, expertise and knowledge and solutions of the HTP resident companies should be used in Belarus and benefit Belarus,” he said. “The Park is one of the projects for our future. We remain committed to building an IT country,” the Belarusian leader said. The state is interested in robust growth of the HTP, in attracting the brightest and the most talented people, be it from Ukraine, Russia, India, Europe and America. “They are welcome here; we create perfect conditions for them and will keep doing it. I am convinced that they will work and live here comfortably,” the president said. At the same time, the Belarusian leader is convinced that artificial intelligence will not replace a human being. This matter was discussed, among other things, at the recent meeting at the HTP. “Indeed, machines and robots will be increasingly used in the manufacturing industry and other sectors. However, no matter how far we will advance in building an IT nation, our real economic sector will remain at the heart of everything. People and human labor will always be in demand,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. The head of state added that a person who works hard will always be respected. “Everything is in place to start and grow businesses here. However, as a proverb goes, God gives food to birds, but does not throw it into a nest. Success comes to those who rely on their own efforts, who study hard, look for good jobs and then grow professionally in any place of our country,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
