Universal communications, informatization fund to be established in Belarus

18/01/2020

According to BelTA a national fund for the universal communications and informatization services will be established in Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed decree No.13 for this purpose.

The document has been enacted in order to encourage activities in the area of telecommunications, informatization, information technologies, and universal communications services in Belarus.

The fund will become part of the central state budget. Its revenues will come as 1.5% of the earnings telecom carriers gain by providing telecommunication services.

Telecom carriers, which use the national data transfer network, coordinate efforts to expand the network, or act as customers in projects to design, build, and equip the backbone network, will be exempt from making transactions to the fund through 31 December 2020.

The fund will total Br45 million this year. The fund will be administrated by the Communications and Informatization Ministry as well as government agencies, which act as customers of state informatization programs.
