Start-up launches ‘Free Wi-Fi Minsk’ service with more than 100 hotspots

24/04/2018

According to TeleGeography a belarusian venture known as Business Network has reportedly launched a new free Wi-Fi network in the capital Minsk, available to end users via a grid of 100 hotspots.

According to Onliner.by the new ‘Free Wi-Fi Minsk’ service was officially switched on last Thursday (19 April), although the start-up has been clear to point out that its brand name is currently a test name only and may yet be revised. Free Wi-Fi Minsk can be used in many large shopping centres, dozens of cafes, at A-100 brand gas stations, in a number of hospitals, at several hotels and in branches of Minsk banks. To connect, the user must enter their mobile number and receive a password. Upon connection, the user can browse the internet for free, for an unlimited amount of time. The network is set to be developed further in the course of this year, with public Wi-Fi earmarked for additional locations including the Oktyabrskaya and Kupalovskaya metro stations in the capital. Business Network says it does not plan to place speed restrictions on end-user connections, bucking the trend seen in many other European cities.
