LTE deployment in Belarus in Q4 2015

06/05/2015

According to BelTA LTE technology will be made available in Belarus in Q4 2015.

BelTA learned from Belarusian Information Technologies and Communications Minister Sergei Popkov during the ceremony held on 4 May to open the ZTE Corporation training center in the Higher State College of Communications.

“Results of the tender to purchase 4G equipment will be summed up by the end of May. The first stage of the project's implementation is supposed to begin in Q4 2015. There are plans to make LTE technology available on the Belarusian market at that time,” explained the official.

The Belarusian telecommunication infrastructure operator beCloud has been authorized to use LTE frequencies in Belarus.

LTE (4G) is a mobile communication standard that combines the key advantages of 3G technologies (mobility) and fixed access (data transfer speeds of up to 300Mbps). 4G technologies allow downloading and uploading large amounts of data fast. They allow watching HD videos and sharing files without using wired Internet access. At present 4G is the most rapidly developing communication standard with over 400 carriers across the globe.
