Virtual tours around Minsk arenas now available

03/05/2014

According to BelTA virtual tours around the sport facilities that will host games of the 2014 ice hockey world championship are now available.

The stadiums have been added to Yandex.Maps panorama service, the Yandex press service told BelTA.

Internet users from all over the world can now take a look at the panoramas of Minsk Arena and Chizhovka Arena. The pictures were taken in mid-April 2014 and allow one to have a look at the facilities from the outside and the inside. Users are invited to take a walk along the corridors, see the diner, the ice arena and even walk onto the ice.

Future viewers of the ice hockey world championship will surely be interested in climbing the stands and appreciating the view. People, who are not big fans of ice hockey, are invited to appreciate grounds for other sports, including the cycling track and the tennis court.

Over 2,000 pictures have been taken to make about 500 panoramas of the stadiums look like the real deal. The tracks around the stadiums were filmed using a special bicycle with a mounted camera while the stands, the ice arena and the rest were filmed manually.

Roughly 700,000 Belarusian users access Yandex.Maps every month. About 140,000 people use the service via mobile devices. As many as 6.5% of the total number of visitors look at Minsk panoramas.
