Beltelecom says net profit reached USD84.2m in FY13; not planning to alter the cost of internet access this year

23/04/2014

According to TelegGeography Belarusian national operator Beltelecom has reported that net income for the full year to 31 December 2013 reached BYR801 billion (USD84.2 million), an increase of BYR65 billion year-on-year, on revenue of more than BYR5 trillion, according to the online journal Providers.by.

Separately, the carrier’s CEO Sergei Sivodedov has said that the company does not intend to significantly alter the cost of using its internet services this year, but instead is looking to focus more on expanding the capacity of data networks and external gateways. Beltelecom’s priority he added, is to continue the rollout of Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology in Belarus, with a focus on developing the enterprise user segment, via the expansion of its multi-service platform based on IMS and data networks. Using GPON technology, the telco plans to connect a further 140,000 subscribers in 2014, he said, in both new and existing buildings across the country. Furthermore, Beltelecom is looking to ramp up the deployment of ADSL2+ technology this year, he noted.
