MTS Belarus reports solid Q3: subscriber base up 3.7%, as 3G users top 1.2m

25/11/2013

According to TeleGeography mobile operator MTS Belarus has reported a solid set of financial results for the three months ending 30 September 2013, with its subscriber base growing 3.7% year-on-year to 5.33 million, including more than 1.2 million registered data users on its 3G network.

The rise in demand for mobile internet access prompted a 54% y-o-y increase in data revenues to USD6.54 million, it said, as total revenues reached USD110 million and operating profit before depreciation and amortisation for the reporting period topped USD57.9 million. Further, the cello said that average minutes of use (MOU) in the third quarter remained unchanged at 477 minutes per month, while average revenue per user (ARPU) reached BYR54,769 (USD5.89).

MTS said that the bulk of its recent investment has been spent on increasing network capacity through the introduction of the second and third carrier channel as well as the expansion of the cellco’s radio subsystem. Furthermore, in Q3 the carrier says it expanded its retail focused Ethernet-network services in Belarus’ regional cities, and worked to modernise its voice services with the implementation of high-definition (HD) mobile voice technology.
