Belarusian Internet-shops fined for BLR 40 mln.

During the first half of 2008, Belarusian Ministry for Taxes and Levies Taxes has performed 93 local tax inspections of companies dealing with on-line shops. A total of 101 breaches of law have been disclosed. As a result of the inspection, goods for BLR 26,5 mln. (12500 USD) have been attached. A sum of administrative penalties totals BLR 38,8 mln. (18500 USD)

Earlier, at the Ministry for Taxes and Levies Taxes stuff meeting which took place on February, 1, 2008, Belarusian prime-minister Sergey Sidorsky stressesed that order should be brought into internet sales.

By the end of 2007, there were 3000 internet shops in Belarus, which is 1,5 times more than in 2006 (1.870 shops)

However, some experts emphasize that there is no internet trade in it's traditional sense in Belarus as there is no full trade cycle, and transactions are reduced to ordering goods via Internet.
