Belarus scientific and technical priorities for 2006-2010

In July, Belarusian President has issued a "Decree on priorities of scientific and technical activities for 2006-2010 " #315.

In the sphere of information and telecommunication technologies the priorities are:

• optical and electronic instrument-making industry;

• microelectronics (chips, semi-conductors and other units and mechanisms);

• radio electronics (production of TV sets, communication equipment, computers);

• software.

Among the critical technologies developing of broadband 3G and 4G radio networks are mentioned. It is planned to arrange production of DVB/MPEG TV broadcasting systems.
