Speaking at the briefing on March 25, 2004, Mr. Melnikov, Beltelecom vice director , informed journalists that Beltelecom will participate in the bidding for the third GSM operator license.
Ministry of Communications of Belarus is planning to present bidding requirements and documentation by the 1st of April, 2004. Ministry of Communications issued an order according to which Beltelecom, as a state-owned company, is now participating in bidding package preparation. Preliminary deadline for applications is autumn, 2004. Then in two-three weeks the winner of the tender will be announced by the Ministry of Communications. It is planned that the third Belarusian GSM operator network will be put into operation in the beginning of the year 2005.
