The First telecommunication ring in the CIS will be put into operation in Minsk

Alcatel representatives have announced that the first telecommunication ring in the CIS based on SDH (synchronous digital hierarchy) technology will be put into operation in Minsk in March 2004. Minsk SDH telecommunication ring is a joint project of Alcatel and MGTS (Minsk City Telephone network) state company.
The STM-64 level SDH telecommunication ring will broadcast stream at 10 Gb/s. The new ring will cover 40 telephone exchanges in Minsk.
The Alcatel spokesman has explained that SDH equipment will provide access to a range of new telecommunication services with minimum investments.
