Belarus imprisons cyber criminals for the first time

Two people convicted of defalcating $25,000 using hacked credit card numbers have been sentenced to up to eight years in prison.
This is the first case of imprisonment of frauders in Belarus. Previously, common punishment for cyber criminals in the country was reformatory in a correctional facility.
A spokesperson for the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed that law-enforcement bodies intend to concentrate on fraud prevention in order to regain Belarus' prestige in cyber space.
