Tadiran Telecom enters Belarusian telecoms market

The Israeli producer of digital switching equipment , Tadiran Telecom Business Systems Ltd has announced at a press conference in Minsk that the company has received a Belarusian state licence for operations in the national market.
Tadiran will compete with Siemens, Ericsson and Alcatel in the Belrusian market. At present, total annual volume of equipment sales for automatic telephone exchanges in Belarus amounts to E50m. According to Rudy Valdman, Tadiran Telecom marketing director for the CIS and Eastern Europe, the company plans to control 15 per cent of the market by 2004.
Tadiran also announced its intention to establish an Israeli-Belarusian joint venture for the production of digital switching equipment. Mr. Valdman said that the idea had found support at Belarusian Communications Ministry.
